The School of Management and the School of Law offer a four-year (eight semesters, plus summers if needed) program leading to a JD/MBA degree.

Students should apply to each program separately. Applications do not have to be submitted concurrently, but applicants must meet residency requirements. Applicants should review admissions requirements. All applicants are required to take the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) or the GRE and the Law School Admission Test (LSAT).

If completed as a combined program:

  • 27 hours MBA core courses
  • 21 hours MBA electives**
  • 81 hours Total Law*
  • 130 total hours maximum

**Normally 60 credits (33 elective hours) are required for the MBA degree.

Students in this JD/MBA program will participate in a cohort, and study groups with full-time MBA students in the first year of School of Management residency. Therefore, no core courses will be waived. In addition, students who do not have at least one year of relevant post-baccalaureate work experience will be required to complete a 3-credit management internship. This internship satisfies one MBA elective.

MGO 658LEC Entrepreneurship Foundations

This course will expose students to entrepreneurship in the context of the individual entrepreneur as well as taking the idea of entrepreneurial thinking into the environment of larger corporations. We will first experience what it takes to create a start-up; briefly examining the process of real-life entrepreneurs have used to move from having the “big idea” to the eventual company launch. During this time, we will explore the importance of teams, the process of risk mitigation, the concept of “fail-fast,” the need for a relentless focus on customer buy-in and the important process of spiraling iteration. Next, we will move our focus to applying entrepreneurial thinking within the large corporate environment; considering the importance of entrepreneurial development within a company as a sustainable competitive advantage. And finally, we will look at individuals and companies that use their business skills to create innovative solutions to specific societal problems (social entrepreneurship). Together, we will discover the mindset that many entrepreneurs share.

MGG 635LEC Management Communications

The purpose of this course is to emphasize the importance of effective communication techniques in an organizational setting and to provide grounding in communication skills. Team communication skills are also emphasized. Students will have the opportunity to understand leadership and communication strategies, and develop their writing skills through several assignments and class activities. Focus will be placed on improving studentsÂż ability to communicate clearly, logically and effectively. Students will have the opportunity to develop oral skills primarily through active learning.
